Barbara creates a vibrant medley of jewelry pieces, each one uniquely collaged from an eclectic mix of materials and techniques. Their inspiration springs from color, texture, and the subtle magic of light and reflection. Barbara studied graphic design, illustration, and art education at several New England art programs and colleges, but she truly discovered her passion when she began working in mixed media. She has exhibited her 2D and 3D collage work in local galleries and art venues, but after exploring jewelry making five years ago, she discovered a true calling with endless creative possibilities. From that spark, Moondrops was born! Each Moondrops jewelry piece begins as a collage of richly colored Japanese Yuzen and patterned papers, transformed by hand into one-of-a-kind organic shapes. Each lightweight piece is sealed with a luminous varnish that lends both resilience and a gentle water-resistant shield. These jewelry pieces can be casual or elegant, understated and small, or bold and vibrant. Creating these pieces is a meditative practice, a soothing way to quiet the mind amid the noise of the world. It is hoped that the wearer, too, finds a calming joy in wearing them.
