Kyla Schmigle

Fiber Artist, Painter

Kyla Schmigle of Work on the Trail is a Rhode Island based artist and art educator. She creates tufted rugs, watercolor illustrations, and both wheel thrown and hand built ceramic ware. She also enjoys creating digital artwork, up-cycling clothing, embroidery and experimenting with new color groups to focus on in her work. Kyla draws inspiration from abstract expressionist paintings, American folk art, botanicals, animals and landscapes.


Kyla holds a BFA in Ceramics and an MA in Art Education. She has been a high school visual arts teacher for almost 20 years. Kyla enjoys spending time with her family in the East Bay and taking trips to coastal Maine.

Hotpoint Emporium is a fine art and handicraft member operated gallery based in Bristol, Rhode Island. All work sold in Hotpoint Emporium is tax-exempt.

Mission Statement: Hotpoint Emporium is an artist collaborative that promotes a vibrant arts community by offering a unique, juried art gallery space as well as a forum for artists and the local community to support, learn, and connect with member artists through multidisciplinary arts exhibits, education, and creative collaborations.
